How to book a Bupa appointment with us:

  1. Ensure you have read the details below
  2. Contact us direct to book your appointment
  3. Read the email you have received relevant to your initial assessment, and gain extra codes IF advised and appropriate

What you need to know:

  • Prior to attending your appointment, it is your responsibility to inform BUPA and gain pre-authorisation for the procedures codes required to facilitate your booked appointment (See list of procedure codes below). Zest Podiatry & Physio cannot speak to BUPA on your behalf. If you fail to gain pre-authorisation, you will be liable for any costs occurred at the company’s self-pay fee rate.
  • Ensure that the podiatrist you are booked with is BUPA registered (See list below) and they are a named person on your policy. If you attend an appointment with a non-BUPA registered podiatrist, you will need to self-fund and claim back.
  • If BUPA fail to cover your consultation fees, Zest Podiatry & Physio will send you an invoice via email to be paid within 14 days.
  • By scheduling an appointment within Zest Podiatry & Physio, you are agreeing to the company terms and conditions.
  • If you have an excess to pay, BUPA will contact you when this is due and the excess fee will need to be paid directly to Zest Podiatry & Physio. Please wait for an invoice from Zest Podiatry & Physio as BUPA advise us after advising you.
  • Contact BUPA if you have any doubt regarding your policy coverage prior to attending.
  • Update your patient portal with any changes to your policy or authorisation codes, or alternatively, email updates to reception@zestpodiatry.co.uk

Things not covered

  • Medical devices such as orthotics, braces splints and medications are not covered by BUPA.
  • SWIFT verruca treatment is covered by BUPA. Patients will need to ensure that two codes are authorised per appointment (AA641 and AA100 ) AA100 is SWIFT and AA641 is a follow-up appointment.
  • BUPA do not fund podiatrists to administer shockwave therapy, however our physiotherapist is able to offer this.
  • BUPA do not pay for routine foot care or conservative management of foot conditions. This is a self-pay service and can be booked separately with any podiatrist within our service.

BUPA Procedure codes for podiatrists:

  • Initial consultation: AA145
  • Follow up consultation: AA641
  • Nail Surgery: AA628. When attending for nail surgery please ensure that you also request at least 2 x AA641 (Follow-up) appointments to be authorised.
  • SWIFT verruca treatment is covered by BUPA. Patients will need to ensure that two codes are authorised per appointment (AA641 and AA100 ) AA100 is SWIFT and AA641 is a follow-up appointment.
  • Gait Analysis: AA365. Other codes required include AA145 (initial assessment) and AA641 follow up, for report writing.
