Nail Surgery with Zest Podiatry

Zest Podiatry & Physio are a team of qualified, registered Podiatrists with over 30 years combined experience. We specialise in providing a complete nail surgery service. We treat children from a number of independent schools alongside numerous individuals.

Ingrown toenails are common with 1 of 5 trips to the GP for the foot being the cause. As podiatrists we specialise in nail care and if appropriate we can treat you by offering nail surgery. Sore toes can occur for a variety of reasons. see here.

When can you see me?

At Zest Podiatry we have daily emergency appointments and the resources to offer nail surgery appointments at short notice. We aim to offer nail surgery within the same week, we work very hard to get you out of pain or discomfort as quickly as we can.

If you are a new patient please book an initial assessment, if there are none available then select emergency, or alternatively contact reception direct who will endeavour to find you an appointment..

What can I do whilst I wait to see you?

There are a number of things you could do before you come in:

  • If the toe has an open wound, then we recommend you keep it clean with 2-3mins salt water bath and wear a dressing to avoid getting infected.
  • Monitoring the toe by taking a clear picture with good natural light will help the podiatrist when you see them.
  • Remove nail varnish from the problematic toe
  • Complete prescribed antibiotics.
  • If you are in severe pain or think it may be infected, please contact reception who can offer you further immediate advice.

How often do you do nail surgery?

The team as Zest performs nail surgery every week, but each client has different needs and we aim to accommodate this. We are trusted by local schools to treat their pupils and receive referrals from GP’s.

Who should I see for my ingrown toenail?

We have a team of qualified, experienced hcpc regulated podiatrists. We can all treat you and offer nail surgery. We work as a team and may discuss or share your care within Zest to ensure you get the best possible outcomes.

Can I have nail surgery on the first day I come to see you?

We do not offer same day nail surgery, but we do get you in quickly if you desire. We must assess, diagnose and go through the procedure and alternatives with you. We like to give you at least 24 hours to reflect on this information.

I have had surgery elsewhere and it didn’t work.

Nail surgery with a chemical called phenol is 95-97% successful. This means 3-5% may grow back. We can offer revision surgery and also offer you to see our podiatric surgeon who visits us regularly. He is able to perform a different surgery without the use of phenol.

Does everyone need nail surgery?

No! We do not offer nail surgery until we feel it is the best treatment option for you. If you have experienced an ingrown nail only recently and mildly we may be able to help through cutting back the nail, and monitoring it. However nail surgery is a long term solution.

My toe is sore, what can I do?

There are many reasons why your toe may be sore, ingrowing is only one reason. Please look at our sore toenails information.
